Marco Island, Florida is located in beautiful Southwest Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. The island is only minutes south of Naples and about an hour and a half west of Miami, Florida. Residents of the island often comment on the perfect weather. High temperatures range from the mid 70's in January & February to the lower 90's during the summer months. Most of the region's rainfall also occurs during the Summer months.
The island boasts beautiful white sand beaches, numerous restaurants, and very low traffic. Red snapper, grouper, snook, and sheephead are especially prevelant. For an even greater experience, take a boat into the Ten-Thousand Islands for some fantastic backwater fishing!
If you're more into sports, you will love the options for tennis and golf. There are a wealth of golf courses and tennis clubs in Southwest Florida, and even a golf course on the island! The weather is always wonderful, so golfers can play year round.
When it comes to shopping, Marco Island has it all! Shop the many local boutiques on the island, or take a short trip to Naples' famous 5th Avenue. For more of the day-to-day types of shopping, you'll be glad to know that Marco Island has all the conveniences of the larger cities. With department stores like Beall's, grocery stores like Publix and Winn-Dixie, and hardware stores like Ace Hardware, you will almost never need to leave the island!
Perhaps you'd like to go out for a night on the town. There are comedy shows and theaters on the island or you could visit the famous Naples Philharmonic. In nearby Fort Myers, you can see some of the best plays, concerts, and tours at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
